Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Bank Catering Assistant based at University Hospital Ayr.

What You Will Do

You will work as part of the Catering Production & Services Team, working within all areas, assisting in all aspects of food preparation, delivery, service, wash-up cleaning duties relating to the provision of catering services to Patients, Staff, Visitors and for functions

Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job

You will have good communication, verbal or otherwise and practical skills are essential

Desirable for current Food Hygiene Certificate, or essential to complete with the first 3 months of employment. Desirable previous experience of working within a large scale catering environment would be an advantage, however full training will be given.

  • Meet physical demands of the job

  • Standard grade English and Arithmetic or equivalent
  • Experience of working in large scale catering
  • Ability to work in a hygienic setting regarding all aspects of food handling
  • Ability to work under pressure, be flexible and adaptable You are required to be proficient in and have knowledge of or undertake training in
  • Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (6 hrs + exam)
  • Food Hygiene Regulations (2006) and Food Safety Assurance system
  • Safe Systems of Work /work schedules
  • Health and Safety Policies / regulations
  • Infection Control practices
  • Cash Handling and Standing Financial Instructions
  • Healthcare Support Workers Workbook
  • National Catering Assistant Workbook
  • Complete and maintain Corporate Mandatory & Statutory Training requirements
  • Waste management requirements and Regulations
  • Allergen Regulations requirements
  • Patient therapeutic diet requirements, including Modified Texture Consistency Staged Diets

All preferred candidates must attend a Corporate Induction programme before commencement of employment; thereafter an ongoing program of Mandatory & Statutory training.
