Band 2 Radiology Assistant in Walton

We have an exciting opportunity for a Radiology Assistant at Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the X-Ray Department, supporting colleagues and providing excellent patient care. The role includes assisting with CT overnight, ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate service for all patients.

Main duties of the job:

• Provide support during the replacement of our A&E CT scanner, assisting Radiographers who will be working single-handed from the main X-Ray Department.
• Work in CT assisting the Radiographers, liaise with wards and A&E to arrange patient imaging, and book porters using the online system.
• Assist with transferring patients onto imaging tables when necessary, and ensure rooms are appropriately re-stocked while completing general departmental duties such as emptying bins.

Job Roles & Responsibilities:

• Use your own initiative to manage and prioritise workload based on clinical need, availability of staff, location, and equipment, while liaising effectively with the team.
• Plan and organise the shift efficiently using knowledge of procedures and examinations, adapting to unpredictable timetables as required.
• Communicate effectively with wards and departments prior to patient attendance to ensure correct preparation, including fasting, hydration, cannula insertion, INR status, or anticoagulation therapy.
• Make and answer telephone queries from service users, providing accurate information in a friendly and professional manner.
• Use departmental IT systems appropriately for accurate data input and retrieval of relevant patient information, including blood results, infection status, and radiation dose.
• Maintain patient confidentiality, professional standards, and comply with all mandatory training requirements and Trust guidelines.

Person Specification & Qualification:

• Minimum 6 months experience as a Radiology Assistant (UK) (NHS/Private) within the last 2 years or currently studying Radiology (Student Radiologist) and completed a minimum of 12 weeks clinical placements.
