Job post summary\\n\\nDate posted: 17 July 2025\\n\\nPay: £17.64-£21.71 per hour\\n\\nJob description:\\n\\nSterile Support Technician\\n\\nOxford Road Campus (MRI Complex) – Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9WL\\nManchester University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust\\n\\nWeekends & Adhoc – 16 hours per week working Saturdays & Sundays 12.00-20.00.\\n\\nBand 4 – Saturday rate £17.64/hr & Sunday rate £21.71/hr\\n\\nAn exciting opportunity has arisen at Oxford Road Campus (MRI Complex) on Oxford Road, Manchester. We are looking for a Sterile Services Technician to join our friendly team. The Sterile Services department is at the heart of the Hospital; this critical service is responsible for the decontamination of medical devices for surgery and patient care.

This is not a patient facing role but is very much patient focused and the patient is at the core of everything the department does.\\n\\nYour duties will include:\\n\\n· Perform a thorough damp dust of work areas prior to commencement of work\\n\\n· Accepting used surgical instruments into the department ready to be reprocessed.\\n\\n· Correctly loading the washer-disinfector and autoclave to ensure effective decontamination of the entire load.\\n\\n· Ensuring a full inspection of the load is carried out prior to packaging the instruments for sterilization.\\n\\n· Packaging instruments, when applicable, in accordance with Hospital policy.\\n\\n· Recording and reporting any failed runs to the Theatre Manager.\\n\\n· Reporting any problems/anticipated problems to the Theatre Manager as soon as possible.\\n\\n· Inspecting all sterile packages for integrity once the load has cooled sufficiently and returning any compromised packages to be re-packaged and re-autoclaved.\\n\\n· Returning decontaminated goods back to respective departments as soon as possible.\\n\\n· Ensuring all items passed through a decontamination process have a traceability label attached/available.\\n\\n· Ensuring all relevant paperwork within the department is completed.\\n\\n· Undertaking daily checks of all machinery and keeping records of the checks.\\n\\n· Ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained within the department.\\n\\n· Accepting and processing equipment from outside agencies\\n\\nSkills required:\\n\\n· Previous sterile services experience with a minimum of 6 months.\\n\\n· Rigorous training will be given.\\n\\n· Good communication skills, verbal and written, and basic computer literacy.\\n\\n· Attention to detail and an overarching desire to deliver a high-quality service.\\n\\n· A basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy.\\n\\n· Be physically active and able to work long hours on your feet.\\n\\nAbout the Trust:\\nManchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) is the largest NHS trust in the UK, operating ten hospitals across Greater Manchester, including North Manchester General Hospital, Manchester Royal Infirmary, and Wythenshawe Hospital.
