Sterile Services Technician Nottingham University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, NG7 2UH Band 2 – £16.05 per working as and when needed, hours range from 7.5 – 37. hours per week Monday – Friday on a mix of 6.00am – 2.00pm and 2.00pm – 10.00pm An exciting opportunity has arisen at Queens Medical Centre. We are looking for 4 Sterile Service technicians to join our friendly team. The Sterile Services department is at the heart of the Hospital, this critical service is responsible for the decontamination of medical devices for surgery and patient care. This is not a patient facing role but is very much patient focused and the patient is at the core of everything we do. Your duties will include but are not limited to: · The safe collection and handling of potentially infected instrumentation prior to decontamination. · The preparation, sterilisation, quality assurance and distribution of surgical instruments and soft packs to operating theatres and other hospital departments. · Packaging instruments, when applicable, in accordance with Hospital policy. · Inspecting all sterile packages for integrity once the load has cooled sufficiently and returning any compromised packages to be re-packaged and re-autoclaved. · Ensuring all items passed through a decontamination process have a traceability label attached/available. · Perform quality checks, ensuring all relevant paperwork within the department is completed. Skills required: · Evidence of previous sterile services experience essential. · A basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy. · Good communication skills, verbal and written, and basic computer literacy. · Attention to detail and an overarching desire to deliver a high-quality service. · Must be able to handle manual handling duties up to 13kg.
