Overview
Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust provides a comprehensive paediatric dietetic service across community and hospital settings. You will be a member of the paediatric dietetic team, delivering high-quality nutrition care to children, families, and carers, while offering specialist advice and guidance to other healthcare professionals. The role involves running outpatient clinics, providing dietetic support in special schools, managing a caseload of children on home enteral feeding, and contributing to inpatient services at Lister Hospital, including neonatal care. Band 6 applicants will also be considered.
Main duties
- Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate individualised dietetic care; conduct group-based education in community and virtual settings; triage referrals to ensure timely interventions; and monitor children on home enteral feeding.
- Provide inpatient cover when required and facilitate smooth transitions of care between hospital and home.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide patient-centred, safe, and effective care.

Responsibilities
- To manage paediatric home enteral feeding caseload, ensure supply of feeds/equipment, and deliver outpatient clinics (community, virtual, and school), prioritising referrals per HCT standards.
- To provide specialist dietetic assessments/interventions, including neonatal and inpatient support at Lister Hospital, safe discharge planning, and monitoring of nutritional products.
- To deliver education to patients, families, carers, and professionals; develop/evaluate staff training; and support safeguarding in dietetic care.
- To safely use and guide others on home enteral feeding systems, tailoring advice to patients/carers with clear communication.
- To adjust dietary recommendations to fit home, school, and hospital settings, ensuring care is practical and sustainable.
- To promote wellbeing, obtain valid consent, support realistic nutrition goals, stay evidence-based, and contribute to HCT nutrition policy.
Person Specification & Qualifications
- BSc Nutrition & Dietetics degree or equivalent
- HCPC Registration
