NHS Derby and Derbyshire, NHS Lincolnshire and NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Executive Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) Cluster are looking for an Executive Director of Commissioning. The cluster ICBs will have a critical role in delivering the ambitions of the NHS 10-Year Plan and achieving the new NHS operating model. The NHS 10-Year Plan emphasizes prevention, personalised care, and integrated neighbourhood services; goals that will need strong strategic commissioners to bring about changes to how services are organised and how resources are allocated.

Our ambition is to achieve a high performing Integrated Care System able to rival the best in the world for our population of over 3.2 million people. This is the opportunity presented to our new Executive Directors in helping to spearhead exciting changes to the way we serve our local population.

This opportunity comes with the massive reward of knowing that you are:

  • Improving outcomes in population health and healthcare
  • Tackling inequalities in outcomes, experience, and access
  • Enhancing productivity and value for money
  • Helping the NHS support broader social and economic development

Of course, you'll need the usual qualities essential for these types of very senior leadership positions such as substantial board level experience and experience of leading highly complex improvement programmes. But you will also need the human touch to build effective relationships with the local public and other key stakeholders, not to mention establishing professional credibility and working relationships with counterparts across the local system and beyond.

Nobody said that change was easy but the rewards are immense. If you would like to find out more about the role, please contact Amanda Sullivan, Designate Chief Executive.

Person Specification

  • Commitment to the principles of public life, NHS values, the NHS People Plan, Nolan principles and the Fit and Proper Persons regime
  • Substantial Board-level experience leading significant transformational change and commissioning
  • Extensive knowledge of the health, care and local-government landscape and of social determinants of health
  • Exceptional communication and influencing skills, building confidence across communities, clinicians, politicians and partners
  • Career in healthcare or an equivalently complex, regulated, consumer-facing environment

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
