The Role

Supervise an administrative team of secretaries and administrative clerks and to provide a comprehensive administrative support to a team of clinicians, enabling clinicians to operate effectively and efficiently. Ensure the work of the administrative team is carried out in accordance with NHS Lanarkshire’s standard operating procedures.

What we\’ll need you to bring

  • SVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience) plus demonstrable experience as a medical secretary
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Evidence of effective team working and dealing with change
  • Evidence of good communication skills with patients, clinicians and colleagues.
  • Advanced audio typing skills
  • Evidence of strong competence with relevant IT systems
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.

It would be great if you also have

  • Possess or be working towards ECDL or equivalent
  • Relevant supervisory / mentorship experience in an equivalent position
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages and Database Systems
  • Knowledge & understanding of CTO processes and Mental Health Act
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work on own initiative
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Accurate keyboard skills

Contract type

Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months

Please note this is a part time post and the salary for this position will be pro-rata.

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in the Neurodevelopmental Service within Udston Hospital and Newmains Health Centre.

The working pattern for this role Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.
