Applications are invited for 2 Clinical Fellow posts in Critical Care at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join a friendly and dynamic critical care team. It is also the chance to live and work in the Highlands of Scotland known for its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and fantastic outdoors lifestyle.

Duties will include participation in a full shift rota covering the 16 bedded critical care unit (intensive care and surgical high dependency unit). Previous critical care experience is welcomed but not required. Out of hours you will work as a team with more senior critical care and anaesthesia doctors. In addition to valuable experiential learning, there will also be ample opportunity for engagement with quality improvement projects and access to anaesthesia and critical care education sessions ensuring professional development during this post.

Raigmore Hospital is a large district general hospital serving the Scottish Highlands. It has all major surgical and medical specialties, obstetrics and paediatrics, and is a Trauma Unit. The Critical Care Unit has 9 Consultant Intensivists, 2 Specialist Doctors, 1 Specialty Doctor, 1 Advanced Critical Care Practitioner and 1 ACCP-trainee, 13 Specialty Trainees (mixed anaesthesia and ACCS shared with anaesthesia) and 3 Clinical Fellows, a progressive and collegiate team.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
