The Cancer Tracker /MDM Coordinator Will Work With a Range Of Clinical And Non-clinical Staff In One Or Two Of Our Cancer Multidisciplinary Teams In The Surgical Directorate, But Will Be Expected To Provide Cover During Periods Of Annual Leave Or Sickness Absence. The Postholder Will Also Be Expected To Carry Out The Following

  • Work closely with all members of the multi disciplinary team and associated clerical staff, being responsible for ensuring the timely movement and tracking of cancer and potential cancer patients through their journey from referral onwards.
  • Identify any barriers to individual patient pathway and/or potential breach of waiting time guarantee and escalate to the appropriate manager in accordance with local policy.
  • Facilitate the collection, analysis and presentation of audit data recording key data items to assist in monitoring the care of patients.
  • Coordinate regular multidisciplinary team meetings (MDM’s) for patients diagnosed with cancer (s) to ensure that the journey for each cancer patient runs smoothly and is progressed in a seamless manner ensuring that the date to support effective and timely management of patients is available for consideration at the regular meetings.
  • Provide secretarial support to the Specialist Nurse team.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a \”regulated role\”, your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
