Overview

Dental Officer, PDS Dental Clinic Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban. 15 hours per week (0.4 WTE). Part Time Fixed Term 2 years. Salary: Band A – Β£54,117 – Β£81,174 (pro-rata).

Recruitment, Relocation and OOHs Allowances are available in certain circumstances. The post is eligible for Remote Areas Allowance. Part Time/Flexible working may be considered for this post.

Responsibilities

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated Dental Officer to join our Public Dental Service (PDS) based in the Dental Suite in Lorn and Islands Hospital, Oban. Duties will involve the provision of patient-centred clinical dental care for the various priority groups within the PDS remit, including domiciliary care and treatment. Opportunities for professional development will be available. Clinical experience of providing treatment to priority group patients is desirable and experience of providing routine general dental services is essential.

Qualifications and requirements

  • GDC registration as a dentist, evidence of participation in postgraduate dental education and successful listing with the Health Board is essential.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and to handle difficult situations and challenging patient behaviours positively is essential.
  • All non UK/EEA nationals will be required to provide evidence of knowledge of English. NHS Highland requires an overall IELTS band score of 7 with no section below 6.5.
  • A Driving Licence is essential.
