Applications are invited for a Locum Appointment for Training (ST3+) in Vascular Surgery, starting on 6th August for 12 months. The post will be based within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The department undertakes a wide range of procedures for patients from across the NHS Grampian region as well as those from Orkney and Shetland.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will be trained in the Medical and Surgical management of Vascular Disease and will be taught open Vascular Surgical procedures to ST3-4 level depending on technical abilities & progress. CbD, DOPS and 360 degree appraisal will be used to assess progress. Additionally, basic Vascular ultrasound and endovenous procedures will be taught.
The successful applicant will be encouraged to enrol in the ISCP to record operative log & WBA assessments. Aberdeen offers all the attractions of any major city. Aberdeenshire boasts many picturesque towns and villages within easy commuting distance and provides access to a wide range of outdoor pursuits, including skiing, hill walking and golfing. There are excellent transport links by road, rail and air.
The Postgraduate Dean confirms that this placement and/or programme has the required educational and Postgraduate Dean's approval. Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required (licence to practise must be in place prior to starting in post).
