PM224839 – Fixed Term Specialty Doctor in Neonatology

Applications are invited for the position of a Fixed Term Specialty Doctor (12 months), Neonatal Unit, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, NHS Grampian.

The Neonatal Unit, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital (AMH) and the Royal Aberdeen Children\’s Hospital (RACH) provide the principal hospital services for newborns and children in the Grampian Region and the Orkney and Shetland Islands (population approx 590,000).

The Neonatal Unit is located within the Maternity Hospital which is on the main Hospital site at Foresterhill along with Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, the Royal Aberdeen Children\’s Hospital and the University of Aberdeen Medical School. Plans are well underway for the build of the new Baird Family Hospital which will be operational by 2024 for delivery of Women’s Service and Neonatal Care in Aberdeen and North of Scotland Region.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic, motivated team in the Neonatal Unit here in Aberdeen. We are looking for someone who already worked in level 3 Neonatal Unit and has experience to manage extreme premature infants from 22 weeks of gestational age and has skills to perform all required practical procedures.

We welcome your knowledge and experience to contribute to our services including ECHO, Therapeutic Hypothermia, NO and HFO ventilation. Experience in managing surgical neonatal patients and experience in Neonatal Transport would be an advantage.

Full time posts are currently 10 programmed activities per week. However, other more flexible arrangements, such as part-time, job share etc. will be favorably considered.

Qualifications

  • Full registration with a license to practice with the GMC is required.
  • Experience in a level 3 Neonatal Unit; ability to manage extreme premature infants (from 22 weeks gestation); ability to perform required practical procedures.
  • Experience/contribution to ECHO, Therapeutic Hypothermia, NO and HFO ventilation; experience in managing surgical neonatal patients and Neonatal Transport would be an advantage.
  • Willingness to work in flexible post arrangements (full-time or part-time).
