Aberdeen Maternity Hospital PM204200 The Obstetrics Department at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital invites candidates to apply for a full-time Obstetrics Consultant post. This post includes sessions on the Labour ward, Obstetric on-call, and Antenatal clinics. Candidates should have experience and an interest in maternal medicine, including the diabetic management of pregnant patients. The position allows flexibility in the proposed job plan, with existing colleagues willing to negotiate areas of responsibility to fulfill overall service needs while enabling individuals to pursue their special interest areas. There are formal departmental teaching and training responsibilities for undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees included in this post. The Unit is the designated tertiary referral unit for the North East of Scotland, providing a full range of Obstetric and Gynaecological services. The unit has responsibility for approximately 6000 deliveries and 9000 gynaecology admissions per annum. Successful candidates will join a strong team of 23 Consultant Obstetricians, Gynaecologists, and academic staff. You will be fully supported by a thriving and friendly department and encouraged to take forward service and academic development. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview. Alternatively, applicants should possess a CESR / CESR (CP). Applications from doctors with appropriate specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register can be considered for a Locum Consultant post (up to 12 months only) if no substantive Consultant appointment is made. While in locum employment, an application to obtain a CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be made. Full registration with a licence to practise with the GMC is required.
