An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 6 midwives to work in NHS Borders located in the beautiful Scottish Borders. The post is rotational based within the Berwickshire community team, covering Eyemouth, Duns and Kelso.
In NHS Borders we put women at the centre of our maternity service and, aim to provide the best care for women and their families.
We pride ourselves on the standard of care we provide to our women and their families and ensure high quality and safe care through strong leadership and a team approach.
Our maternity services are on an exciting journey to fulfil Best start recommendations and offer continuity of care through case loading midwifery teams who will care for women at home and in our consultant led unit and you will be part of these teams working collaboratively to promote the delivery of evidence based women centred care.
This as an excellent opportunity to join our friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team within the maternity services in NHS Borders. We deliver our midwifery services alongside the Borders General Hospital, located near Melrose in the centre of the Scottish Borders which provides our women with an antenatal/postnatal ward and labour suite with consultant clinics and early pregnancy unit. We provide community support in the home and GP surgeries located throughout the Borders from Peebles, Hawick, Jedburgh, Galashiels, Kelso, Duns and Eyemouth.
We are seeking an innovative, highly motivated, flexible and enthusiastic midwife with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who will provide high quality, person centred care working within the community settings. This band 6 midwife should be passionate about continuity of care with a desire to develop their midwifery expertise and join our friendly, supportive and motivated midwifery team.
You will have the ability to work flexibly and effectively within a busy team who care for a population of women with diverse health and social care needs, working in partnership with other health and social agencies.
This is a Permanent part time post offering an exciting opportunity for experienced midwives who are keen to develop skills and practice midwife-led care

The role requires a commitment to day shifts and on calls both through the day and night as required by clinical need.
The Scottish Borders occupies an enviable location in the South of Scotland with diverse landscapes based on geographical areas from fabulous cliff tops and beaches to rivers, hills, and rolling countryside right on our doorstep, great links to all other major cities in the country through train stations based in Tweedbank (Galashiels) and soon to open, Reston ( on the east coast main line), This means the area can offer employees plenty of choice when it comes to both accommodation and opportunities of things to do in the pursuit of the right work-life balance.
