Overview
Donor Carer Mobile Team. NHS Blood and Transplant has permanent and fixed-term vacancies (fixed-term for 12 months). The role involves working a variety of hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with no night shifts. Shift patterns cover a Monday – Friday period, with early shifts from 06:45 to 18:00 and late shifts from 10:15 to 21:00 (approximately 8.33 hours with a 60-minute unpaid break). Timings may change depending on venue.
This vacancy is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Please apply only if you have the right to work or are already employed by the NHS and would transfer to the pay point above the base of Band 3.
Main duties of the job
Be the friendly face greeting donors, supporting them through the donation process, and ensuring they leave feeling good about their experience. Check donors in on systems, ensure comfort during and after donation, and deliver excellent care every step of the way. Keep accurate records, handle blood products safely, and ensure everything is set up for a smooth session. Opportunity to drive our equipment lorry with full training provided. This is a hands-on, active role requiring some lifting and moving and the ability to work on your feet as part of a supportive team.
Other responsibilities may include supporting donors, handling questions with confidence, and delivering a great experience. You may learn practical healthcare skills and take a step into the NHS.
About You
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience of dealing with the public.
- Experience of delivering quality customer service.
- Willingness to learn new technology skills and undergo digital training.
Qualifications and Training
- Good standard of numeracy and literacy.
- Willingness to undertake development and training including completion of the Skills for Health Care Certificate.
- Hold a valid full UK Driving Licence (Manual) with no more than 6 penalty points (provisional licences not accepted).
Note: Driving in the UK under DVLA rules may apply to non-UK licence holders, but this post requires a full UK driving licence (manual) for Group 2 driver application processes.
