Overview
It takes all types of people to deliver the kind of service that saves and improves lives. At NHS Blood and Transplant, you\’ll join a team of more than 6,000 people who are making a genuine difference to communities, families, friends, relatives and more across the UK. We play a unique and special role in the NHS by helping people do something extraordinary—donate blood, blood products, organs, tissues, or stem cells to save someone in need.
The role involves working a variety of hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays but no night shifts. You will be working on a shift basis on either a full-time or part-time basis (up to 5 days per week for full-time hours). The earliest start is 7:30am and the latest finish is 20:00pm, this will be 8.5-hour days.
Responsibilities
- Be the friendly face that greets donors and supports them through the donation process, ensuring they leave feeling good about their experience.
- Check donors in on our systems and ensure they are comfortable during and after their donation.
- Ensure accurate records and handle blood products safely, and ensure everything is set up for a smooth session.
- Deliver excellent care every step of the way.
Qualifications and qualities
- No healthcare background required. Experience in retail, hospitality, customer service, or volunteering is valuable.
- If you have worked in a team and know what it means to go the extra mile for someone, you will be well suited.
- Bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm for delivering a great experience; training will be provided.
- You are a people person who loves making others feel comfortable and supported, enjoys chatting with people, and can handle questions and concerns with confidence.
