Business Solution Analyst (Band 7)

Job Summary

NHSBT are looking for 4 experienced BAs to join the growing Design Team, working on important strategic and smaller projects, and product centre team backlogs delivering targeted business & technical change.

We have multiple roles supporting the Central Design Team and our Product Centres: Blood Supply, Clinical Services, or Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation.

The vacancies comprise 2 x permanent roles, 1 x 18-month Fixed Term and 1 x 7-month Fixed Term role.

The roles involve multiple simultaneous projects, dedicated focus for larger projects, supporting ongoing product development, or a combination of these. We support diverse products, that help us deliver what we do including specialist biosciences to patient, donor and staff facing services. Our portfolio includes everything from bespoke business & technology changes to whole service design and change programmes.

The post requires considerable autonomy and initiative, as most project teams are remote and virtual, so this post suits those who are confident in their abilities, happy to ask for guidance when necessary and relish the opportunity to take ownership of their deliverables.

As a Business Analyst you’ll produce, contribute to, and maintain the following artefacts (alongside others) as appropriate:

  • Process Maps
  • Business Requirements Specifications (including as-is/to-be/gap analysis & NFRs);
  • Functional Specifications
  • Requirements Traceability Matrices and backlogs
  • Business Change Plans
  • Business Solution Assessments

Main duties of the job

  • You will provide a business analysis service to a variety of projects covering business and process change, solutions procurement, development and implementation
  • You will be help determine which BA artifacts and deliverables will be appropriate to each project, and be responsible for delivering these to NHSBT standards
  • You will work closely with a range of people potentially including Service Designers, User Researchers, Solution Architects, Product Owners, Delivery Managers, Project Managers, Solution Architects, SMEs and key business stakeholders to ensure that business needs are identified and delivered solutions meet these needs.
  • You will build and maintain stakeholder relationships with customers across the business and third parties.
  • You will be responsible for managing your own workload and diary, including making priority calls and renegotiating deadlines within your own workspace. Management support will be available if required.
  • Limited national travel, irregular hours and some overnight stays are necessary on an occasional basis in accordance with project needs, with prior notice.

About You

Experience and Knowledge

  • Experience of supporting successful small through to large-scale change and cross-directorate business process improvement
  • Experience of working in virtual teams including a leadership element
  • Knowledge of standard business analysis techniques and notation
  • Experience of eliciting user stories and managing requirements catalogues and traceabiliy
  • Experience of planning and facilitating workshops and interviews
  • Experience of successfully managing relationships with stakeholders at a range of levels of seniority

Qualifications And Training

  • Evidence commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • Educated to Master’s level OR equivalent experience
