The Scottish Ambulance Service is seeking a strategic leader for the role of General Manager for Scottish Specialist Transfer and Retrieval (ScotSTAR) Services across Scotland. This high-profile national role involves overseeing the delivery and transformation of this specialist service, which is a vital part of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive collaboration to improve maternity and neonatal care through the Best Start programme.
- Deliver the Air Ambulance Efficiency strategy, optimizing Scottish Ambulance Service and Scottish Charity Air Ambulance assets.
- Oversee the national Air Ambulance Contract and Service Level Agreements with territorial Health Boards.
- Review the ScotSTAR Paediatric Retrieval Service and contribute to pre-hospital critical care provision in Scotland\’s southeast and east regions.
Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates will have senior leadership experience in healthcare or emergency services, with an understanding of specialist resources, staff groups, and air ambulance operations. Skills in contract negotiation, service redesign, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and performance management are essential. Clinical experience is not required.
