The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

You will have operational day to day and professional line management by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist as an employee of NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Psychological Service. You will provide Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and other evidence based Psychological interventions to adults who present with neurological long-term health conditions and who are experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression and adjustment difficulties. The team operates a brief model of care and clinics are held in a number of premises throughout Ayrshire. Given our pan-Ayrshire service across three Partnership areas, a car owner and driver is preferable.

  • To work within a multidisciplinary Psychological Therapies team (or equivalent) providing evidence-based treatments for individuals with mild to moderate psychological disorders. This will involve a mix of individual clinical work and involvement in the provision of group interventions.

  • To provide Psychological therapies to adults with a wide range of mental health problems including anxiety and depressive disorders

  • To manage own caseload within specialty area using specialist techniques and maintain clinical related records.

  • To work with clinical psychology colleagues, and other mental health professionals to provide a psychology service to patients.

You must have an honours degree in psychology (eligible for GBR) and a post-graduate Masters level (or equivalent) degree in Psychological Therapy, and also have:-

  • Relevant clinical experience

  • Knowledge of relevant national and professional guidelines for optimal standards of clinical care.

  • Some knowledge of Psychiatry and other related professions in order to understand complex clinical presentation.

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Awareness of the limits of one’s competence and expertise and work within those boundaries (particularly in the initial postgraduate year).

  • Ability to work in a sensitive manner with respect for diversity in gender, ethnic, culture and philosophical issues with a wide range of individuals

  • Commitment to ongoing Continuing Professional Development

  • Commitment to attend in-house and external courses pertaining to computer training, moving and handling, management of aggression and violence, lone worker guidelines etc.
