Senior Clinical Development Fellow in Ear, Nose and Throat
We are seeking a Senior Clinical Development Fellow (CDF) for the ENT department at University Hospital Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr.

Commencing as soon as possible, the role involves placement in the ENT department as a senior CDF on the second tier on‑call rota. You will work in a welcoming, forward‑thinking ENT department across the University Hospitals of Ayr and Crosshouse. The position is designed to give further clinical ENT experience and to prepare you for national surgical or higher speciality recruitment processes, enhancing your portfolio for future recruitment opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Participate in elective work such as outpatient clinics, operating lists and diagnostic sessions.
- Provide non‑resident, second tier, on‑call commitments to the ENT department.
- Engage in audit, education and quality improvement projects within the four ENT departments.
- Dedicate 4‑8 hours per week (1 day per fortnight or 2 half‑days) to development projects in education, teaching, research, quality improvement or leadership.
- Maintain an ISCP portfolio to document your surgical logbook and portfolio developments.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice.
- Experience and capability to work in a second tier on‑call rota.
- Motivation to develop clinical, educational and research skills.
Other Details
- Whole‑time appointment for the duration of the post.
- Potentially supported by NES and considered LAT with formal ARCP process, if criteria are met.
- Study budget of £1,250 per annum pro rata.
- Clinical supervisor will be provided and support will come from the Director of Medical Education.
