NHFM is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Established in 2012, NHFM provides specialist project management services for large and small capital developments, estates maintenance and a full range of facilities services for all of Northumbria Healthcare Trust’s sites.
We are looking to recruit two friendly and flexible domestic assistants to join our small team at Blyth Community Hospital. Hours of work for these positions are:
- 16.5 hr post - predominantly to assist with cleaning office and clinic areas in late afternoon / early evenings.
- 20 hr post - predominantly to work within our inpatient ward working either 7am - 12pm, 9am - 2pm or 2pm - 7pm. This position also includes working a share of weekends and bank holiday dates for which an enhanced rate is payable.
Quite simply, the NHS could not function without our Domestics! Every single service in the Trust relies on domestics to keep the place clean and safe for patients, visitors and staff. You’ll be part of a team striving to maintain the highest cleanliness standards in wards, departments, corridors and offices, and in doing so making a real difference to the NHS.
The successful candidate will maintain the standard of cleanliness as specified throughout the designated work area by means of approved cleaning methods.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities include:
- Cleaning of floor areas as scheduled by means of vacuuming, mopping, buffing and spray cleaning.
- Undertake “deep cleans” in areas where infection is present.
- Removal of rubbish including domestic and clinical waste from designated areas to disposal point.
- Cleaning of sanitary areas, toilet, sinks, shower cubicles and staff changing areas.
- Damp dusting of all surfaces, ledges, shelves, curtain rails.
- Cleaning of internal glass.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness in all work areas.
- Carry out any urgent spot cleaning and spillage.
- Participate in training programmes relevant to efficiency, fire drills, hygiene, the requirements of the health and safety at Work regulations and other courses as deemed necessary for the efficient working of the department.
- Any other duties as deemed appropriate.
