Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 +10% performance bonus, + regional allowance

As a Senior Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing risk across NHBC’s warranty products and building control services. You will ensure projects meet all customer, statutory, and technical requirements. The role requires you to be a Registered Building Inspector, Class 2F/3. This senior-level position demands technical excellence, proactive risk management, and strong collaboration to deliver safe, high-quality developments.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll assess high-risk applications, supervise and support less experienced inspectors, and advise on critical technical elements throughout the construction lifecycle.
  • Working closely with developers, builders, and their professional teams from design to completion, you will ensure proposals comply with NHBC Standards, Building Regulations, and national requirements.
  • Handle restricted activities on complex residential developments, typically over 11 metres in height, providing expert guidance on building control and warranty matters.
  • Ensure compliance with NHBC and HSE safety requirements.
  • Support inspection staff with expert advice, inspect high-risk/complex building elements, identify and communicate key inspection stages, and review progress regarding Building Regulation and Warranty aspects.
  • Survey and assess buildings and proposals for Buildmark Conversions, including providing advice, preparing reports, and deciding on insurance coverage.
  • Possess understanding and experience in forensic investigations, defect identification, and repairs.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with good interpersonal and presentation abilities.
  • Experience in training and mentoring others.
  • Experience in warranty risk management.
  • Extensive construction industry experience, particularly in Building Control.
  • Experience in plan appraisal of residential and non-residential developments.
  • Ability to guide builders, consultants, and NHBC on Building Regulation & Standards.
  • Proactive in resolving customer complaints and managing conflicts effectively.
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Relevant accredited HND/HNC qualification or substantial industry experience.
  • Must be a Registered Building Inspector, minimum of 2F and 3 BSR Class.
