Job summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled Principal Surveyor, with at least a Class 2F registration as a Registered Building Inspector (others considered), to take on a senior leadership role.
In this position, you will manage a team of multi-disciplinary professionals, providing support, guidance and advising on the assessment of building control, complex cases, resolving technical issues working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing
Support the Technical Operations Manager in leading a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team of professionally qualified staff. Ensure the retention and development of both external and internal customers by applying specialist technical knowledge and a thorough understanding of NHBC Standards and Building Regulations.
- Undertaking quality monitoring of staff as part of Technical Operations quality management process.
- Undertake the role of Registered Building Inspector in accordance with professional codes and standards as appropriate to your registration with the Building Safety Regulator.
- Responsibility for the co-ordination of building control inspections, issue of Final Certificates, site and type approvals and resolving problems relating to Initial Notices/Final certification.
- Manage the Building Regulation aspects by supporting inspection staff with the provision of expert advice, inspection of high risk/complex elements or features of building work, the identification / communication of key inspection stages and review of progress.
- Surveying and assessing buildings and proposals for suitability for Buildmark Conversions cover, including the provision of advice, preparation of reports and offers/refusals of insurance cover.
What we’re looking for
- Excellent people and team management skills, with leadership to identify potential.
- Senior-level experience in the building/construction industry, with a proven track record.
- Extensive experience in the construction industry with relevant experience in Building Control.
- Familiar and experienced with plan appraisal of residential developments and associated non-residential uses.
- Proven ability to make pragmatic and value decisions on compliance with Building Regulations and NHBC Standards.
- Good communication skills both verbal and written with appropriate interpersonal and presentational skills.
- Chartered membership of an appropriate professional institution.
- Relevant accredited HND/HNC, Degree qualification or substantial industry experience QBE.
