Field Service Engineer – Overview
We are looking for a Field Service Engineer / Field Support Technician with strong fault‑finding skills for hardware and software applications, and excellent client‑facing abilities. The role includes traveling across North East, North West, Central, South East & South West, with occasional UK‑wide travel.
Salary: £30,057 per annum including the on‑call supplement. Full‑time, permanent role with 13‑hour shifts on a 3 days on/3 days off rota (including weekends and bank holidays). A full UK manual driver’s licence is required.
Responsibilities
- Visit client sites to install, refurbish, and maintain EPoS equipment, chip‑and‑pin devices, tablets, digital menu boards, media screens, kitchen management systems, routers, Wi‑Fi and other IT equipment.
- Conduct site surveys and audits to determine requirements and specifications for new installations or servicing.
- Perform equipment swap‑out services during client visits, minimising downtime.
- Set up Wi‑Fi devices and troubleshoot faults with data‑network cables.
- Escalate unresolved technical, hardware or software issues to the appropriate team.
- Document troubleshooting steps and obtain client sign‑off before completion.
- Use a company van and fuel card; vehicle provided includes air conditioning, reverse camera, satellite navigation and custom racking.
Qualifications
- 1 year of IT support experience (preferred).
- 1 year of EPoS experience (preferred).
- Experience in installing, integrating, and testing EPoS hardware and software (ideal but not essential).
- Background in IT technical support, electronic equipment installation, telecoms or broadband engineering, or a similar environment.
- Technical mindset with logical, methodical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience or knowledge in identifying faults with data‑network cables.
- Willingness to travel 100% to client sites.
- Full UK manual driving licence required.
