We are looking for an experienced Tarmac Roller Operative to join our team on busy projects in the Kent Region. You will be responsible for operating ride-on rollers to compact asphalt safely and efficiently, ensuring a high-quality finish in line with project specifications across both machine lay and hand lay surfacing works.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operating ride-on rollers safely and efficiently to compact asphalt surfaces
- Ensuring correct compaction of tarmac in line with specifications and required tolerances
- Working closely with paver operators, screwmen, rakehands and foremen
- Following behind the paver to achieve a smooth, even and durable finish
- Carrying out daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on plant equipment
- Monitoring surface conditions and adjusting rolling patterns as required
- Ensuring all works are completed safely and in accordance with RAMS
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance
- Assisting the gang with general site duties when required
- Keeping plant clean and in good working condition at all times
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid CPCS or NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Ride-On Roller Ticket
- Proven experience operating ride-on rollers on tarmac surfacing works
- Good understanding of asphalt compaction techniques and surfacing processes
- Ability to work effectively within machine lay and hand lay gangs
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices on site
- Reliable, punctual and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying conditions
- Right to work in the UK
DESIRABLE:
- Experience working on highways or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Additional plant tickets (e.g. Dumper, Paver, Excavator)
- CSCS card if not already included with plant qualification
- Strong understanding of different asphalt types and finishes
- Experience working within established surfacing gangs
