Excavator Operator
ROLE OVERVIEWWe are looking for a skilled Excavator Operator to join our groundwork teams on a busy project in Dartford..
You will be responsible for operating a 3-tonne excavator to carry out drainage and service installation works, working closely with groundworkers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating a 3T excavator for drainage, utilities, and service installation works
- Excavating trenches to specified depths and levels for drainage and service runs
- Installing and working around foul, storm, water, electric, gas, and telecom services
- Digging around live services using safe excavation techniques and service avoidance procedures
- Assisting with the placement of pipes, ducts, chambers, and associated drainage infrastructure
- Backfilling and reinstating excavations in accordance with project specifications
- Lifting and positioning pipes, manholes, chambers, and other materials where authorised
- Reading and working from drawings, site plans, and laser levels
- Ensuring all works are completed safely and to required quality standards
- Carrying out daily pre-start plant inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Maintaining excavators in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition
Requirements
- CPCS or NPORS (CSCS-affiliated) Excavator up to 10T Tracked*
- Proven experience operating a 3T excavator on drainage and services projects
- Experience working around live services and following safe digging practices
- Safety Critical Medical (site specific)
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- CPCS Lifting Operations / NPORS Excavator as Crane*
- Confined Space Certification
- CAT & Genny Training
- CPCS / NPORS Forward Tipping Dumper*
- CPCS / NPORS Ride-On Roller*
- Street Works (NRSWA) Accreditation
- GPS and laser level experience
- 3+ years of experience in drainage and utility installation works
*Please note: to comply with client requirements, we can only accept NPORS cards that are CSCS-affiliated and carry the CSCS hologram.
