Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in London. The Health And Safety Manager will support the delivery of sewer connection and site drainage projects from preparation through to completion. Daily responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with groundworks
  • Setting up and maintaining safe work areas
  • Operating or supporting the operation of tools and equipment
  • Helping with installation, inspection, and testing of sewer and drainage systems
  • Reading or following basic site plans and instructions
  • Documenting site activities as required
  • Coordinating with supervisors, engineers, and team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to specification

The Health And Safety Manager is expected to follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and contribute to a positive, respectful site culture.

Qualifications

  • Experience or training in construction, civil engineering, utilities, or groundworks, ideally with exposure to drainage or sewer works
  • Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental practices, including safe use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to read and follow site instructions, method statements, and basic drawings or plans
  • Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a site-based environment
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites
  • Full, valid driving license and ability to travel to different sites in and around London, as required
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CSCS card or equivalent site safety accreditation) are highly desirable
  • Previous experience in sewer connections, drainage installation, or utility works is an advantage but candidates with strong motivation to learn will be considered
