Civils Ganger Location: Washington Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Up to £42,500 + Flexible Benefits

Freedom Networks has an exciting opportunity for a Civils Ganger to support delivery of Asset Replacement works for Northern Powergrid, as well as excavation and reinstatement activities across the CESC contract. This role is key to ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of civil works on site, supporting Supervisors and Project Managers while leading site teams to meet operational and safety standards.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Lead and support site teams delivering civil works, including excavation and reinstatement activities.
  • Ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently and to required specifications.
  • Maintain and promote high Health & Safety standards across all site activities.
  • Support Project Managers and Supervisors with on-site coordination and delivery.
  • Ensure all operatives are trained and working to Freedom standards and procedures.
  • Liaise with client representatives, contract coordinators and engineers.
  • Engage professionally with members of the public where required.
  • Monitor site progress and ensure works are completed in line with programme.
  • Ensure all completion and compliance documentation is submitted accurately and on time.
  • Support a positive site culture focused on safety, quality and teamwork.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in civil engineering, utilities or excavation/reinstatement works.
  • Proven experience supervising or leading site teams.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements within civil works.
  • Ability to coordinate site activities and support operational delivery.
  • Good communication skills with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Understanding of streetworks and utility environments (desirable).
  • Relevant tickets/certifications (e.g. NRSWA) advantageous.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
