  • Job Purpose

ECS Engineering Services Ltd. is seeking a highly organised Work Planner to oversee resource allocation and activity scheduling across all departments.

This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient project execution, effective utilisation of resources, and optimal planning for fabrication, project works, and planned preventive maintenance (PPM).

The Work Planner will act as the central hub for planning activities, collaborating with operations, commercial, procurement, and engineering teams to optimise workflows and maximise cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project & Resource Planning
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive work schedules for projects, fabrication work, and PPMs.
  • Allocate and track labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractor resources across multiple projects.
  • Forecast resource demand based on project pipelines and liaise with department heads to ensure availability.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks or conflicts in scheduling to maximise efficiency.
  • Estimate resource costs for labour, equipment, and materials to feed into budget information.
  • Work with PM for developing NEC clause 31 & 32 programmes for projects
  • Develop Framework programmes for each area
  • Clash analysis for companywide programme
  • Operational Coordination & Efficiency
  • Develop and implement planning best practices and scheduling methodologies.
  • Work closely with fabrication, civil, MEICA, and site teams to align planning with operational needs.
  • Maintain close communication with project managers, engineers, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Utilise industry-standard planning software, i. e. MS Project.
  • PPM & Maintenance Planning
  • Develop and manage planned preventive maintenance (PPM) schedules for assets and infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and industry standards in maintenance planning.
  • Work with the SHEQ team to incorporate safety and quality control measures into planning processes.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting
  • Provide regular planning updates and reports to senior management.
  • Develop KPIs and performance dashboards to track efficiency and resource utilisation.
  • Act as a key liaison between operational teams and commercial departments to ensure alignment.
  • Any other duties assigned in line with the scope and seniority of the role

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience in workforce, resource, and project planning (ideally in construction, or engineering sectors).
  • Proven ability to plan, allocate, and track resources across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of NEC4 contract frameworks and their impact on planning and resource management.
  • Strong knowledge of planning software (MS Project).
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to optimise resource utilisation.
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and coordination skills, ensuring smooth cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to introduce new ideas and drive improvements with scope of the role#
  • Experience in PPM scheduling within engineering or asset management industries. (Desirable)
  • Proficiency in data analytics and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar). (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with lean planning methodologies for improving operational efficiency. (Desirable)
