Freedom has an opportunity for a Hire Controller to join our Plant Hire team based in Stowmarket. This role forms part of a busy hire desk supporting Freedom’s operational teams by arranging plant, tools, and machinery hire through our approved supply chain. You will work closely with internal customers and supply partners to ensure plant and equipment are delivered efficiently to support operational delivery. This is a replacement role within an established team, offering clear progression opportunities.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Manage daily plant, tool and equipment hire requirements for operational teams.
  • Arrange traffic management requirements where required.
  • Process hire orders from initial request through to completion.
  • Proactively manage and resolve equipment breakdowns.
  • Liaise with supply chain partners to obtain quotations and confirm bookings.
  • Maintain the Hire Desk diary and shared workbox.
  • Build strong professional relationships with internal customers.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of plant and equipment available for hire, including accessories, safety and test/run requirements.
  • Raise purchase orders and support general hire-related administration.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience or knowledge of construction plant hire (desirable).
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • Confident and effective communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with basic Excel capability.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the role.
  • Industry or plant hire experience beneficial but not essential.
