A typical day will be diverse, challenging and very rewarding. We have exciting opportunities for enthusiastic people to join our experienced Engineering Team, where you can learn from the industry’s best. As an NG Bailey apprentice you will:
- Train at one of the top performing colleges or training providers in the country.
- Learn about our award-winning approach to working safely.
- Work at our offices and visit construction sites.
- Be prepared for early starts and travel away from home when necessary.
- Develop great working relationships with some of the industry’s most talented people.
- Have a strong support network giving you the chance to build your confidence and use your initiative.
You will learn to:
- Design mechanical and electrical drawings as per the project requirements using British/IEC Electrical Network Association (ENA) standards and practices.
- Deliver the best value design solutions with the support of the engineering and design team.
- Support the design lead and project teams in all aspects of design work.
- Learn to undertake the technical review process and identify potential issues and solutions.
- Learn to use specific software such as AutoCAD, CYMCAP, DigSilent Power Factory, PLS CAD, CDEGS etc. to carry out your role in accordance with your discipline.
- Communicate and build relationships with operational and project teams.
- Understand the cost of projects and play your part in managing the design costs.
- Understand the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015), Electrical safety/ ESQCR regulations, building/building wiring regulations and legislation to ensure the design of a project meets legal compliance.

You will attend Leeds College of Building on block release to complete the Level 4 Construction Design and Build Technician apprenticeship and regularly attend in house training and development in Leeds and Stowmarket as part of the programme.
Please note, to be eligible for an apprenticeship you:
- Must be able to complete the apprenticeship within the required time, including the End-Point Assessment.
- Must have a valid and eligible residency status and the right to work in England.
- Must be ordinarily resident in the UK or its territories for at least 3 years before starting the apprenticeship.
