Apprentice Electrical Design Engineer in Stowmarket, Suffolk

As an NG Bailey apprentice you will:

• Train at one of the top performing colleges or training providers in the country.
• Learn about our award-winning approach to working safely.
• Work at our offices and visit construction sites.
• Be prepared for early starts and travel away from home when necessary.
• Develop great working relationships with some of the industry’s most talented people.
• Have a strong support network giving you the chance to build your confidence and use your initiative.

You will learn to:

• Design mechanical and electrical drawings as per the project requirements using British/IEC Electrical Network Association (ENA) standards and practices.
• Deliver the best value design solutions with the support of the engineering and design team.
• Support the design lead and project teams in all aspects of design work.
• Learn to undertake the technical review process and identify potential issues and solutions.
• Learn to use specific software such as AutoCAD, CYMCAP, DigSilent Power Factory, PLS CAD, CDEGS etc. to carry out your role in accordance with your discipline.
• Communicate and build relationships with operational and project teams.
• Understand the cost of projects and play your part in managing the design costs.
• Understand the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015), Electrical safety/ ESQCR regulations, building/building wiring regulations and legislation to ensure the design of a project meets legal compliance.

You will attend Leeds College of Building on block release to complete the Level 4 Construction Design and Build Technician apprenticeship and regularly attend in-house training and development in Leeds and Stowmarket as part of the programme.

Please note, to be eligible for an apprenticeship you:

• Must be able to complete the apprenticeship within the required time, including the End-Point Assessment.
• Must have a valid and eligible residency status and the right to work in England.
• Must be ordinarily resident in the UK or its territories for at least 3 years before starting the apprenticeship.
