Senior Project Manager / Project Manager to lead the charge in delivering substation renewal and remedial works across the Northern Powergrid network.
This pivotal role is all about ensuring the safe, efficient, and commercially successful delivery of projects from start to finish.
In collaboration with Northern Powergrid and our internal teams, you will manage a diverse portfolio of projects that are essential for maintaining, upgrading, and enhancing the resilience of critical electricity infrastructure.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Project Manager / Project Manager, you will
- Lead the delivery of substation renewal and remedial projects, ensuring safety, timeliness, and budget adherence.
- Assess and develop allocated sites, coordinating surveys, condition assessments, and feasibility studies.
- Develop and manage project delivery programmes, effectively planning and allocating resources.
- Prepare and oversee project estimates, cost forecasts, and financial reporting.
- Manage commercial performance, identifying risks and opportunities to maximize value.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, designers, and civil teams.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant requirements and regulations.
- Oversee project documentation, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Northern Powergrid and key stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates on programme, performance, and project risks.
- Drive a positive safety culture and promote continuous improvement.
- What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Proven project management experience in utilities, power distribution, or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems, particularly in substations.
- Experience with NRSWA/Street Works requirements.
- Demonstrable experience managing multidisciplinary teams and multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong commercial awareness, including estimating and cost management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong organizational, planning, and coordination abilities.
- Proven track record of delivering projects safely in construction or utility environments.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with Northern Powergrid contracts or networks.
- Project Management qualification (e. g., APM, PRINCE2).
- IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- SAP authorization or experience working closely with authorized personnel.
