Freedom has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to lead delivery of New Connections through our Low Carbon Technology (LCT) contract with Northern Powergrid. You will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery of new electrical connection projects across the region, supporting the transition to low carbon infrastructure.

Key Deliverables

  • Oversee day-to-day delivery of LCT connection works, ensuring projects are delivered to specification, on time and within budget.
  • Lead and manage a team of Field Managers, Supervisors, Planners, Engineers and Site Operatives.
  • Act as the main operational point of contact with Northern Powergrid.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSQE policies, procedures and legal requirements.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently from planning through to energisation and handover.
  • Plan and allocate labour, plant and materials to meet project demands.
  • Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement across contract performance.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of project documentation, including RAMS and as-built records.
  • Liaise with local authorities, subcontractors and key stakeholders to support project delivery.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Experience in a senior operational role within cable installation, utilities or power distribution.
  • Strong knowledge of LV/HV cable networks.
  • Understanding of new connections processes within a regulated utility environment.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong client and stakeholder management ability.
  • Good commercial awareness and contract management experience.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working on Northern Powergrid contracts.
  • Streetworks knowledge.
  • Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
