Freedom has an exciting opportunity for a Civils Field Manager to support the delivery of Asset Replacement works across our Northern Powergrid contract.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of civils works associated with the replacement and renewal of critical network infrastructure.
This is a hands-on operational role, responsible for coordinating site activities, leading teams, and driving performance across multiple projects throughout the North East region.
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager with the day-to-day delivery of civils asset replacement works.
- Lead and manage Supervisors, Planners, Engineers and Site Operatives across multiple projects.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, to specification, within budget and in line with programme requirements.
- Act as a key operational contact for Northern Powergrid and maintain strong client relationships.
- Champion safe working practices and ensure compliance with all HSQE policies, procedures and legal requirements.
- Manage multiple asset replacement projects from planning through to completion and handover.
- Plan and allocate labour, plant and materials to meet operational demands.
- Monitor contract performance and KPIs, implementing improvements where required.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of project documentation, including RAMS and as-built records.
- Liaise with local authorities, subcontractors and third-party stakeholders to support project delivery.

Experience
- Experience in an operational role within civil excavations, cable installation, utilities or power distribution.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering and utility construction works.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Excellent client and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and contract management capability.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience working on Northern Powergrid contracts.
- Streetworks knowledge and understanding of NRSWA requirements.
- Management or supervisory qualifications.
- SSSTS, IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
