NG Bailey Facilities Services are recruiting for an experienced Mobile Engineer (Electrical) on the prestigious SETL - South East Trains Limited Railway Contract.
As a Mobile General Maintenance Technician, you will be working on our contract for South East Railway to their network of train stations.
You will provide electrical maintenance to stations within the London / Metro / Southeast London area / Kent and occasionally Sussex.
This is a varied mobile role, ideal for someone with a broad range of practical building maintenance skills who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and delivering a high standard of service.
Your work will include general building fabric repairs, decorating, minor plumbing repairs and other planned and reactive maintenance tasks, helping to ensure stations remain safe, operational, and maintained to a high standard.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as a company van will be provided.
Due to the railway environment, you will also be required to pass the relevant medical assessment and training to obtain a PTS (Personal Track Safety) Sentinel Card if you do not already hold one.
This is a condition of employment.
Key deliverables in this role will include
- Carry out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance across a portfolio of railway stations.
- Undertake a broad range of general maintenance tasks, including minor building repairs, decorating, basic carpentry, minor plumbing repairs and other fabric-related works.
- Complete fabric-related PPM tasks and reactive repairs within agreed contractual Service Level Agreements and KPIs.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs and minor works efficiently, often working independently across multiple locations.
- Support other engineers and technicians where required to ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with method statements, risk assessments, relevant legislation and NG Bailey Health & Safety procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of completed works and site documentation.
- Use the client's CAFM system to accurately record work undertaken and provide updates on service delivery.
- Liaise professionally with the client, station teams, FM colleagues, subcontractors and other service partners.
- Assist with the coordination and supervision of subcontractor works where required, ensuring appropriate Health & Safety standards are maintained.
- Take a proactive approach to identifying maintenance issues and ensuring premises are maintained to a high standard.
- Undertake minor works and small projects with minimal supervision.
- Working hours
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with participation in an on-call rota (1-6), There may also be opportunities for overtime where works need to be completed outside normal working hours.
What we're looking for
We're looking for a practical and experienced General Maintenance Technician who takes pride in their work and can deliver a high standard of planned and reactive building maintenance.
You’ll be comfortable working independently in a mobile role, managing your own workload across multiple sites while providing excellent customer service.
Ideally, you will have
- Previous experience in a Fabric Technician, Building Maintenance, Handyperson, or similar multi-skilled maintenance role.
- Practical experience completing fabric-related PPM and reactive maintenance tasks within commercial, industrial or facilities management environments.
- A broad range of building maintenance skills, which may include general fabric repairs, decorating, carpentry and minor plumbing.
- The ability to diagnose issues and complete reactive repairs and minor works with minimal supervision.
- Good knowledge of Health & Safety requirements, including safe systems of work, RAMS, and permit-to-work procedures.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to complete job documentation accurately and use mobile or CAFM systems to update completed works.
- A relevant City & Guilds trade qualification or equivalent would be advantageous.
- PTS (Personal Track Safety) would be advantageous but is not essential, as training can be provided.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
