Location: Home based with regular travel throughout the North region.

Working hours: 35 hours per week.

Purpose of the role: You will provide technical and policy guidance to NFU members on a variety of land use, infrastructure, planning and environment issues across the region. You will develop initiatives that further our members’ interests and influence local policy on land use matters. To achieve this, you will establish strong professional networks and regularly meet with farmers, rural professionals and wider regional stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and policy guidance to NFU members on land use, infrastructure, planning and environmental issues.
  • Develop initiatives that advance members’ interests and influence local land‑use policy.
  • Establish and maintain strong professional networks with farmers, rural professionals, stakeholders and local authorities.
  • Attend meetings and participate in forums to represent NFU positions.
  • Collaborate across NFU teams to align on policy objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experienced rural professional with a passion for agriculture, land management and rural land‑use policy.
  • Excellent communicator, highly organized and engaging with the farming community.
  • Knowledge of the North region and its land‑based businesses is advantageous.
  • Flexibility to work outside standard hours and undertake extensive travel within the region.
