About the role:
As a key part of our team, you will be expected to prospect and develop new leads, identify cross sell opportunities and develop relationships to win new business. You can be confident that our trusted brand will bring you opportunities to convert business. We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic person, who is keen to develop their sales career further. This role will include renewing the book of insurance you built, as nurturing long standing relationships is what we’re all about.
What we’re looking for:
- New Business Development: Identify, prospect, and convert new business opportunities within the SME commercial sector. Build and maintain a sustainable and profitable client portfolio across the local area.
- Client Engagement: Develop a thorough understanding of each client’s individual business needs and deliver tailored insurance solutions using NFU Mutual’s broad range of general insurance products.
- Cross-Selling & Collaboration: Recognise opportunities to refer clients to other NFU Mutual services, including Financial Services (Protection, Pensions, and Investments), Risk Management Services, and Health & Safety Consultancy.
- Customer Experience: Provide outstanding service at every stage of the customer journey, consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
- Compliance & Quality Standards: Ensure all activity meets NFU Mutual’s regulatory standards and Training & Competence framework, maintaining accurate and compliant records of all customer interactions and advice.
- Teamwork & Agency Contribution: Work collaboratively with colleagues across the agency, contributing to overall performance and an excellent customer experience.
About you
You’ll be a highly motivated self-starter with a positive, proactive approach. Using your face-to-face sales experience, you’ll consistently work towards achieving realistic sales targets and will be committed to your own learning and development with full agency support.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Residence within a commutable distance of the Witney & Oxford Agency
- Experience in insurance or another financially regulated environment
- Proven success and confidence in face-to-face sales, including prospecting commercial new business and building a client pipeline
- Experience working towards and achieving annual sales targets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation abilities and confidence handling complex conversations
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A–C (equivalent), including Maths and English
- Strong IT proficiency
- A full UK driving licence with no more than 6 current points and access to your own vehicle
