About the role

Working in Pricing at NFU Mutual feels genuinely different. With a clear focus on customers rather than shareholders, the team’s work has real impact — supporting local communities, protecting livelihoods, and helping our UK-wide Agency Network deliver exceptional service. Our Pricing team is central to how we support our customers, and its role is becoming even more crucial. The team is now at the heart of one of NFU Mutual’s most significant transformation programmes, shaping how pricing will operate in the future to ensure fair, insight-driven outcomes.

To deliver this transformation, the team is expanding and creating exciting opportunities to join at a pivotal moment. This is a rare chance to influence a high-profile, business-wide initiative where your work will be visible, valued and acted on. By working closely with colleagues across the business, you’ll play an important role in shaping NFU Mutual’s future. Beyond the transformation, you’ll join a Pricing team committed to continuous improvement, offering ongoing opportunities to grow, add value and make a real difference. If you want to drive meaningful transformation while developing your own career, now is the ideal time to join us.

This particular role sits within the Motor Pricing team and focuses on using technical expertise to develop and deliver street (customer) prices for our Car, commercial vehicle and Tractor products.

You will play a central role in designing, building, implementing and communication of pricing models and rating algorithms. You will also be responsible for monitoring performance to ensure key metrics such as premium, conversation rates, retention rates and profitability are in line with business objectives. This includes analysing internal and external data, utilising pricing models, and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders including those in Data, Modelling, Risk Pricing, Underwriting, Distribution, Claims, and Finance divisions.

You will be responsible for leading on and acting as the technical expert and referral point for complex pricing analyses, model build and design - as well conducting scenario planning and impact assessments to understand the effect of pricing actions on conversion, retention and profitability. Monitoring and analysing street price performance and driving value to the business, will also be a key task, communicating rating proposals and analysis with key stakeholders.

You will also take ownership of quality control processes across pricing models and data, ensuring accuracy, integrity and consistency - as well as undertaking coaching & mentoring, and project related tasks too.

This role will be aligned to our Stratford-upon-Avon offices – with the expectation that you will spend 20% of your time onsite, and up to 80% working from home.

About you

You are a degree-educated, highly skilled Pricing professional with extensive experience in General Insurance and a strong track record of delivering technically robust, data driven pricing analysis. You bring deep expertise across pricing methodologies, model development and data analysis, and you are confident acting as a technical role model within a team, with strong Price optimisation, Radar and SQL knowledge.

You will also be able to demonstrate experience in:

  • Advanced pricing analyses (e.g., demand or loss cost models, algorithm construction, customer impact analysis)
  • Making technical recommendations
  • Advanced software expertise (e.g., Emblem, Radar, R)
  • Supervising or leading technical work, supporting colleagues in developing capability
  • Contributing to or progressing professional qualifications

You’ll also have a strong problem solving mindset, and an inquisitive and analytical approach matched with the ability to present technical information to nontechnical audiences. Becoming an effective communicator, with excellent stakeholder management will also be key, showcasing resilience under pressure, and maintaining accuracy and sound judgement.
