About the role: As an NFU Mutual Health and Safety consultant, you'll belong to a Risk Management Services team that has helped business owners reduce and manage commercial risk for over 30 years. Health and safety is the main focus of our Risk Management Services function and we're looking for a skilled Health and Safety Consultant to actively engage in your own survey work. The team delivers a tailored health and safety consultancy service.
You’ll establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, other Health and Safety Consultants, and Industry and regulatory bodies, to ensure the effective achievement of goals and promotion of NFU Mutual Risk Management Services. You’ll work from home and travel to clients across the UK, with a focus across Leicestershire, Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire, depending on where you reside. You’ll have full control over your diary to work with an existing customer base and generate more work through referrals. Our clients cover a wide range of industries such as commercial, agriculture, retail, estates and leisure, so every day will be different.
About you: You’re an experienced and confident Health & Safety professional, ready to make a real difference for our clients. With a strong background in providing consultancy and advice across commercial environments—including farming and agriculture—you bring detailed technical knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation, risk management, and loss prevention practices. You’re self-motivated, target-driven, and used to working towards KPIs. Your ability to write high-quality Health & Safety reports and assessments sets you apart, and you’re comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. Effective time management and flexibility are second nature to you, and you always put the customer at the heart of what you do.
Requirements:
- A full UK driver’s licence – essential
- To hold, or currently be working towards, NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent - Essential
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally in commercial and agricultural settings - desirable
- Excellent written communication skills – essential, and to be assessed at interview
- A customer-focused approach and strong stakeholder engagement skills
