Responsibilities
NFU Mutual’s Pricing Department are delighted to share an exciting opportunity to become a Lead Pricing Analyst within the Risk Pricing team, specifically within Large Corporate Insurance.
As a Lead Pricing Analyst, you will be a technical role model, using your knowledge of general insurance pricing disciplines to influence and deliver on department projects, including working towards our ambitious Commercial growth targets outside of the farming community.
You will carry out case pricing for household names using experience-based pricing models and discuss the outcomes with underwriters. You will also carry out technical reviews of underlying assumptions used within these pricing models.
This will include extracting, checking, monitoring and analysing data; identifying underlying performance trends and areas of opportunity in order to drive performance, impact change and achieve wider business objectives.
Through utilising pricing techniques, software skills and industry experience you will add to enhancing of the team’s technical capability and will help ensure the effective development and delivery of accurate prices for our customers. As a Lead Analyst, you’ll be expected to take initiative and drive your own work forward, while also providing guidance to other team members where needed.
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone with a strong analytical background who’s keen to apply their skills in a commercial environment and make an impact from day one.
It’s essential that you bring strong data analytics experience, with a solid grounding in data analysis, a good understanding of data quality, and confidence working with and interpreting large datasets. While actuarial experience within financial services, such as pensions, life, or general insurance pricing, would be a welcome addition, it’s not a requirement for the role.
A naturally mathematical and analytical mindset is also essential, along with an ability to problem-solve and draw meaningful insights from data. Some SQL or coding experience would be useful, though a willingness to learn and develop in this area is just as important. Any prior experience within the insurance industry would also be an advantage however not a prerequisite.
An excellent team player, you will have a collaborative approach and superb interpersonal skills. You will be able to convey technical information efficiently to audiences with varying levels of technical skills.
