About the scheme
Finance at NFU Mutual is about more than number crunching. It plays an important role in maintaining our financial strength, helping customers reach their savings and investment goals, and supporting the business to make informed decisions.
Our Finance Graduate Scheme is designed to help shape future finance leaders who can make a real impact. Over three years, you’ll gain hands-on experience through two 18-month placements in key areas of Finance, including:
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
This team helps the business understand financial performance and make good decisions. You’ll gain experience in areas such as:
sales and claims performance
strategic planning
reporting to senior leaders
Financial Reporting & Controls (FRC)
This team manages financial and regulatory reporting across the Group. It also helps maintain strong financial controls and good practice. During this placement, you’ll:
build technical knowledge in statutory and regulatory reporting
work with teams across the business and external auditors
learn how reporting, data management and technology support finance decisions
work alongside our specialist Data and Tech team
Properties Finance
This team manages transactions, budgeting and financial reporting for all NFU Mutual properties. You’ll gain experience in:
statutory reporting
Budgeting and financial planning
working closely with the wider Properties Team
You’ll be based in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire with hybrid working depending on business needs. Regular office time will help you collaborate with your team and learn from experienced colleagues.
Please note this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship as it does not fulfil the criteria set by the Home Office. This is a three-year programme. Candidates must have, or be able to obtain, permission to work in the UK in a way that enables them to undertake the role and complete the programme.

Over the three-year scheme, you’ll rotate across different Finance teams and build a broad understanding of how Finance supports NFU Mutual, including:
Joining a supportive team from day one, where you’ll be encouraged to ask questions, share ideas and build your confidence.
Learning how Finance helps drive the business, from managing risk and analysing performance to supporting strategic decisions.
Working with different areas of the business, using financial insight to support key decisions and help shape future plans.
Developing your technical finance skills through hands-on experience across different teams and projects.
Building leadership skills that will help you grow into a future finance role.
Working towards your CIMA or ACCA qualification, with support throughout the scheme to help you achieve your career goals.
You’ll also have opportunities to gain hands-on experience through projects that help you learn about our business, grow your skills and make a meaningful impact.
We’ll support your career development throughout the scheme with a structured plan, performance reviews twice a year, and the potential for competitive salary increases and progression. Join us and by the end of the scheme, you’ll have built the knowledge, confidence and experience to help the business make informed financial decisions.

It’s not all about work either. We encourage our graduates to get involved in extracurricular activities, from volunteering and organising charity or social events to representing NFU Mutual at industry events, all in line with our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework.
Work experience
Industry experience or a placement year within Financial Services or accountancy would be a real advantage, but it isn’t essential. What matters most is that you’ve had some experience of work where you’ve been able to interact with people, build your communication skills and learn how to work well with others.
