About the role
We are currently recruiting for an Enterprise Release Manager to join our team. You will be a self-starter willing to take on accountability for the Release Management process and team. They will have a good understanding of modern ways of working including Agile delivery and tooling as well as a keen eye for identifying, assessing and articulating business risks. We are looking for someone with strong vision to take the team and process forward and maximise our value proposition. You will lead and manage the Release Management function, ensuring that it has the required structure, processes, systems and resources to effectively deliver and govern releases across the NFU Mutual estate. You will also oversee and manage a portfolio of IT system releases, ensuring that they are delivered in line with quality, time and budgetary parameters, minimizing the risk and impact to the company’s live IT systems environment. You will: • Lead, define, promote and manage the Release Management function to improve the consistency, efficiency and success of IT releases in line with the IT strategy and ensure this is embedded and communicated to key stakeholders. • Influence, define and manage the scope of IT system releases, in collaboration with key stakeholders, in order to implement changes to business’ IT systems that meet the agreed deliverables, including those agreed through business change days, IT change projects and programmes and/or fault remediation work as appropriate. • Lead, manage, motivate and develop direct reports so that they know what is expected, are able to maximise their contribution to business objectives and realise their potential. • Challenge, oversee and guide the IT Release team and stakeholders on release governance and processes and influence the release portfolio in order to minimise impact to IT applications and the production environment. • Plan, track and communicate the controlled delivery of IT release activity in liaison with the IT Implementation Manager in order to ensure that stakeholders, dependencies, cost, quality and time are managed within agreed parameters. • Anticipate, monitor, manage and report on progress, risks and issues across the release portfolio in line with NFU Mutual Risk Policy and Release Standard Documentation and Processes to protect the production environment. • Build and maintain key internal and external business relationships to drive the IT Strategy and create a high-performance release team. • Deliver short term / one-off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with Line Manager.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have: • Broad extensive relevant and demonstrable experience of IT system design and/or software development. • Experience of leading and managing a team. • Experience of establishing effective relationships with, and influencing senior stakeholders. • Experience of various software development methodologies • ITIL awareness Experience in a Financial services, insurance, investments and/or pensions environment (desirable) Qualifications • An Information Technology related degree, or equivalent industry experience. • Formal qualification in technical area of specialism (desirable).
