About the role:
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our growing Corporate Sales Team, known internally as an NIS Commercial Account Handler. You’ll be part of a busy, friendly and service-oriented department, working alongside an established team to manage new business submissions across a broad range of commercial insurance products. From onboarding to negotiating terms and premiums, you’ll take ownership of the full lifecycle of each case, liaising with agents, suppliers and insurers to deliver tailored solutions. You’ll handle policies ranging from SME to large corporate accounts, including Property, Liability, CAR, Professional Indemnity, Freight Liability, Marine Cargo, Cyber and more. Supporting our NFU Mutual Agency network and Regional Sales teams, you’ll help acquire and retain customers while ensuring compliance with governance frameworks such as GDPR and the authority matrix. With renewal retentions sitting at 95%, we’re clearly doing a lot right—and you’ll be part of that success.
This role falls under Insurance Distribution Directive requirements, and as a result, role holders will be required to demonstrate ongoing Continuous Professional Development in role, along with undergoing regular re-screening to show that they are of “Good Repute”. About you:
You’re an experienced broker with a solid understanding of commercial insurance products—particularly casualty, CAR and property. You know how to assess risk, negotiate effectively and deliver results that balance client needs with business goals. You’re confident working independently, but you also thrive in a team. You bring energy, attention to detail and a natural ability to prioritise. Whether you’re liaising with stakeholders or managing multiple submissions, you stay calm, focused and professional. You value doing things properly, keeping up-to-date with changes to the market, and taking pride in delivering work that’s accurate and well-considered. Above all, you’re motivated by helping clients find the right solutions—and you’re ready to bring that commitment to a team that shares your values.
Skills that will be assessed during the application process:
- Your strong knowledge of core product lines is essential: Casualty, CAR, Property.
- Knowledge of product lines such as Marine freight liability, Fleet trade, Professional Indemnity and Cyber would be advantageous
