Broker Development Manager
- Driving corporate insurance business from our National Insurance Broker partners
- Field based role including nationwide travel to Broker and Client premises

About the role
As a Broker Development Manager, you will drive key relationships between NFU Mutual Corporate Business and our panel of National Brokers Partners. You will be responsible for retention of our existing book of broker clients, ensuring good outcomes for all parties as well as generating a pipeline of suitable new business opportunities that maximise sales potential and deliver sustainable profitable growth across the range of NFU Mutual products.
More specifically, you will develop and secure Corporate business via a selected panel of brokers through robust pipeline management and contact strategies to achieve profitable growth targets in line with corporate risk appetite. You\’ll build and maintain effective, influential and compliant relationships with key Broker personnel including placement leads, Account Directors and Account Executives to secure new business opportunities.
You will also have accountability for the retention and renewal of existing broker clients, ensuring appropriate and compliant outcomes for all parties. You\’ll lead, develop, implement and monitor sales and account management by outlining and agreeing objectives and targets for both parties to drive and deliver strategic goals.
Your role will be to educate, promote and publicise the NFU Mutual corporate proposition to key Broker personnel and potential corporate clients through face to face meetings to support sales activities.
You will also have to build and maintain strong business relationships with key internal stakeholders including LCI Underwriting and Claims to ensure effective collaboration, alignment of objectives, that enhance LCI’s internal reputation and drive sales growth.
You\’ll lead Broker & Key senior client stakeholder meetings to establish and maintain NFU Mutual’s reputation as a leading corporate insurer.
You may also be asked to deliver short term / one-off projects and activities as required by and to the standards and outcomes agreed with Line Manager
This role falls under Insurance Distribution Directive requirements, and as a result, role holders will be required to demonstrate ongoing Continuous Professional Development in role, along with undergoing regular re-screening to show that they are of “Good Repute”. About you
You\’ll have strong knowledge the UK Corporate insurance market and have gained experience working with National Insurance Brokers, building relationships to deliver effective sales and growth strategies. You will have achieved ACII status or be close to completing the qualification.
You\’ll also need the following skill set;
- Experience of developing business plans with intermediaries to increase sales activity and profitable growth
- Relationship building skills in particular with servicing or advising large corporate clients
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Resilience and personal motivation
- Conflict management skills
- Ability to work under own initiative
