Role Description
The Farming Insurance Advisor is a full-time, on-site role based in Dungannon.
In this position, the advisor supports farming and agri-business customers by assessing their insurance needs, preparing tailored farm and commercial insurance proposals, and explaining policy options in clear, accessible language.
Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting clients in person or by phone, conducting risk reviews on farms and rural businesses, processing policy renewals, adjustments, and new business, and liaising with underwriting and claims teams to ensure accurate cover and smooth service.
The advisor also maintains up-to-date knowledge of NFU Mutual products, market developments, and regulatory requirements, while contributing to local business development activities and building long-term relationships within the farming community.
Qualifications
- Strong customer-facing skills, including active listening, clear communication, and the ability to build trust with farming and rural business clients.
- Experience in insurance, financial services, or a related advisory environment, with the ability to understand policy wording and explain complex information simply.
- Background or strong interest in agriculture or rural business, with an understanding of farming operations, risks, and the agri supply chain.
- Solid organizational and administrative skills, including accuracy in documentation, attention to detail, and effective time management.
- Comfort with using office and CRM software, managing client records, and working with digital tools to support sales and service activities.
- Proactive approach to business development, including networking with local farmers and SMEs, identifying new opportunities, and supporting marketing initiatives.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small local team, contribute to shared goals, and adapt to changing customer and business needs.
- Relevant insurance qualifications (e. g., CII or equivalent) or willingness to work towards them with employer support.
- Valid right to work in the UK and flexibility to travel locally for client visits when required.
