About the role

We are recruiting for an Interim Finance Director to set the strategic direction for finance, in line with the wider strategy of the business in the UK and Ireland, lead the team in transforming the finance function as we further integrate the legacy and newly acquired entities whilst overseeing both the Financial Control and FP&A/Commercial functions.

Overview of Duties

  • Finance Leadership
    • Provide leadership to the Board’s finance and accounting strategy, to optimise the company’s financial performance and strategic position (in line with the overall business aims).
    • Working with the Board and divisional MDs to steer and meet all commercial objectives and financial results across the UK and Ireland.
    • Liaise with USA parent company on all financial matters at the appropriate level.
    • Oversee the performance of and set the direction for all direct reports and their teams.
    • Continually assess skills and capability across the team, to facilitate ongoing team and individual development.
  • Financial Reporting
    • Oversee and review monthly management accounts.
    • Assess and understand the different financial reporting mechanisms used by each company and work closely with the team to design and implement a uniform process/system which can be applied consistently to all entities.
    • Ultimate responsibility for the statutory accounts and audit; work closely with the Financial Controller to understand all key issues and ensure that statutory financial statements are materially correct and reported in line with legal requirements.
  • Financial Control
    • Ensure that Company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth; finance lead for transformational activity.
    • Assess and review all financial processes and controls across the business- working with the Financial Controller to enhance or introduce controls where there are gaps.
  • FP&A and Commercial Finance
    • Oversee, review, and ensure delivery of the budgets for each business line.
    • Oversee monthly forecasting cycle and work with the Head of Commercial Finance to develop this process and overall planning cycle.
    • Oversee business cases for financial investment in the UK and Ireland.
    • Identification of efficiencies in processes as well as cost-savings which can be realised across the group.
    • Work closely with the Head of Commercial Finance to review pricing and product profitability across the business.
  • Integration and Transformation
    • Oversee financial due diligence for new acquisitions and report back to the UK&I and USA leadership team.
    • Lead on all finance integration and transformation activity for current and future acquisitions.
    • Lead on the multi-year entity rationalization project across the group.

Person specification

  • Knowledge, skills and abilities
    • Proven experience across financial control, FP&A and commercial finance.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Finance transformation and M&A experience preferable.
  • Education / and or Experience
    • Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA preferable).
    • BA or BS degree preferred or equivalent experience.
