The Estates Team is expanding and we are seeking another Maintenance Operative to join the team! This is an exciting time to join a small, dedicated Estates team as it looks to the future with ambition and purpose. Every member of the team plays an essential part in helping to preserve the extraordinary heritage while helping the charity to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Position: Maintenance Operative

Location: Chichester

Hours: Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £28,840

Contract: Permanent

Closing Date: 9th March, 2026

Interviews: In person interviews at the Cathedral offices during the week commencing 16 March 2026.

The Role

We are seeking someone who will be able to be responsible for all general maintenance and groundwork around the site/precincts, ensuring high standards of presentation and security in all areas and following all health and safety regulations. The successful applicant will work closely with the Maintenance Manager and the Head of Estates and other members of the Estates team to carry out a cyclical schedule of preventative maintenance and undertake periodic safety inspections as well as responding to the day-to-day reactive repairs around the Cathedral site and its properties.

We are looking for someone who has practical skills and is able to undertake general maintenance and groundwork around the site/precincts, helping to ensure that we retain our high standards of presentation and security in all areas whilst adhering to all health and safety regulations.
