About The Role

Duty Care Team Leader

Bracken House Residential Home are recruiting a duty team leader to work within a busy dementia care home.

Shift patterns 7am -2.30pm and 2.30pm – 10pm, alternate weekends

Bracken House Residential Home is a 34-bed Residential facility located in Burntwood, Staffordshire. As a senior care assistant with Nexxus you will be looking after the different needs of our residents to enable us to deliver quality care whilst supervising and help lead a team alongside the registered manager.

Some duties may include:

  • To provide leadership to the care staff within the service, and run the shift efficiently
  • Complete staff supervisions and spot checks, helping them progress
  • Promoting independence and encouraging appropriate risk taking
  • Understand person-centred care/care plans and can demonstrate treating people as individuals and respecting choices
  • Complete audit within the home
  • Administration of medication
  • undertake audits within the home
  • Involve Service Users, families, external agencies

About You

  • Empathetic and compassionate – Going back to basics, we need individuals who are passionate about providing care and support to residents of all abilities
  • Able to build rapport and relationships quickly
  • Trustworthy and reliable – Are you punctual? Can you manage your time well?
  • Resilience? – Care is extremely rewarding, but can you handle the challenges as well as the fulfilment
  • Flexible – We try our best to ensure you can work the shifts preferred, but on occasions you may need to be flexible

What we need from you:

  • Can you work shifts between 7am and 10pm eg 7am-2.30pm/2.30pm -10pm?
  • Desire to provide personal care and support services to residents which respect rights and choices
  • Do you have the right to work in the UK with proofs? (i.e., passport, Visa)
  • We’ll need to complete a DBS check if you’re successful, we will cover the initial cost of this – T&Cs apply
  • Provide professional references – We’ll need at least 2 references from you previous employers
  • Attend 3 days classroom-based induction held locally – You’ll be paid to attend your training, and our training and recruitment team are always available to help
  • Complete mandatory e-learning during your probationary period

Bracken House Residential Home is a 34-bed Residential facility located in Burntwood, Staffordshire. Nexxus endeavours to provide our Residents with a safe place where they are looked after according to their needs, by supporting with washing, dressing, toileting, administering medication and supporting mobility needs. Our Residents are afforded a home away from home and can treat the setting as their own home. Our purpose as a residential care home is to ensure that people who cannot live independently, but do not require nursing care are well looked after and can continue to lead meaningful lives.

Nexxus care are a Staffordshire County Council owned company, and our goal is to provide outstanding domiciliary, reablement, extra care and residential support to our clients, as we understand the importance of caring for people in the familiarity of their own home, we built our services around people, not processes or tasks.
