Nexxus Care is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Disability Support Worker to join our team at Silver Birch, our specialist short breaks and respite centre in Burton, Staffordshire. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a supportive, modern environment where you’ll be making a real difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities.
Our 5-bedded centre offers short breaks, respite care, and day support. Facilities include:
- Spacious bedrooms with specialist equipment required
- Two assisted bathrooms
- Assistive technology call systems and door sensors for privacy and security
- Ceiling track hoist systems for safe and dignified transfers
- Sensory projectors, televisions, and adaptable communal areas
- Accessible kitchen surfaces to enable independence for wheelchair users

As a Support Worker, you’ll provide high-quality, person-centred care to individuals with learning disabilities, supporting their independence and wellbeing. Your duties may include:
- Supporting with washing, bathing, dressing, and personal care while promoting dignity and independence
- Assisting at mealtimes, ensuring dietary needs are met and recorded
- Following care plans and keeping accurate documentation
- Encouraging and supporting residents to take part in activities within the centre
- Working closely with colleagues and families to deliver the best possible care
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, caring, and confident in supporting people with learning disabilities. Previous experience in a care or support worker role is essential. Experience with learning disabilities is desirable, but training will be provided. You should be able to work shifts between 7am and 10pm (rota basis), be eligible to work in the UK (proofs required), and be willing to complete a DBS check (funded by us, T&Cs apply). You must also be able to provide two professional references and be committed to completing mandatory e-learning and classroom-based induction (fully paid).
